We’ve all heard the right-on clichés about how we should do things better, and we should end things we don’t like with a bit of dignity. That’s great if you’re a celebrity or a politician, but what about the rest of us? Whether it’s a relationship, a job, a hobby, or a TV show, it’s hard to walk away from something we’ve fallen in love with.
On the morning of my departure for the States, the weather turned to the point where it was overcast and pouring rain. It could have been so much worse, but I was glad I decided to go home the night before to apply the finishing touches to my suitcase. As I was getting ready to leave, I found a letter tucked inside my mirror. It was written by my friend to me, and it was the sweetest, most thoughtful letter I have ever received.

The start of a new NFL season brings optimism, as well as the prospect of large sums of money. Preseason betting is usually a hot subject, regardless of the sport, but since the NFL is the king, NFL gambling follows suit. Every year, a certain individual or team overcomes the odds – very literally. The Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who were the last two teams remaining last season, have the greatest chances of repeating as champions. The Buffalo Bills, led by Josh Allen, are the greatest chance to win Super Bowl 56.
Last year’s AFC Championship Game included the Bills as an unexpected participant.

Buffalo won the AFC East for the first time since 1995 last season. Someone other than the New England Patriots won the division for the first time since 2009, and just the second time since 2003.
Allen led the Bills to a 13-3 record, which matched them with the Green Bay Packers for second best in the NFL. Buffalo advanced to the AFC Championship Game after defeating the Cleveland Browns in the AFC Wild Card Game and then the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round. It was the first time the franchise had returned since Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, and Bruce Smith done it in 1993. At Arrowhead Stadium, Buffalo led Kansas City 9-0 after the first quarter until Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs rallied to reach Super Bowl 55, where they were defeated by Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.

Naturally, Tampa Bay and Kansas City have the greatest chances of winning the Super Bowl in 2022. Tampa Bay is a +650 favorite, while Kansas City is a 5-1 underdog. At 12-1, Buffalo has the third-best odds.
Allen progressed from a developing quarterback in his second season to one of the league’s finest last season. In fact, he finished the season ahead of Mahomes in MVP votes. Allen threw for over 4,500 yards and 37 touchdowns in his career. He rushed for 421 yards and eight more touchdowns. He became a franchise quarterback and was compensated accordingly.
Allen’s offense is basically the same as it was last year. Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, the team’s two top rushers, are both back. The same can be said about standout wideout Stefon Diggs, who caught 127 passes for over 1,500 yards from Allen in 2020. Cole Beasley, a slot receiver, is back, as is tight end Dawson Knox.
The Bills were 16th in the NFL in points allowed last season, but they were plagued by injuries to key players for most of the year. Following their bye week, head coach Sean McDermott’s defense ripped off eight consecutive victories, holding rival offenses to fewer than 20 points in four of their last six games. Buffalo had the second-best defense in 2019 when fully healthy.
The Buffalo Bills have odds comparable to the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers (14-1). Green Bay has a 15-1 record.
Last year, guess who had 12-1 odds? Buccaneers, eventual Super Bowl champions.
Buffalo, for whatever reason, is being overlooked as we approach 2021.
The Chiefs and Mahomes will always be media darlings. Brady might play for another 50 years and still be the most fascinating figure in the game. However, a club with the Bills’ pedigree — that is, a 13-3, division-winning, AFC-Championship Game participant — should not be overlooked in the championship race.
Things will heat up in Orchard Park as this year’s New York winter grows colder, and Allen might be hoisting a trophy in the welcoming warmth of LA come February.
