Mad World is a new MMO game that uses blockchain technology to power its economy. Players can buy and sell items in the game’s marketplace, which is powered by Ethereum smart contracts. The game also features an innovative player-driven economy that allows players to trade their in-game assets for real-world currency.
Mad World is a new multiplayer online game that is in open alpha and can be played until tomorrow. The game will be released on Steam when it’s complete.
It’s been nearly a year since any significant news regarding Mad World, Jandisoft’s grimdark isometric multiplayer ARPG. The game was intended to debut on Steam in 2018, but delays started piling up, beginning with a projected 2019 alpha test, a wholesale delay due to a publishing agreement with Netmarble, and then expectations for a summer 2020 release. After then, the game remained silent on its own forums and on Twitter, with the last thing we heard from it being a gameplay video from December of last year.
The game’s final significant source of information seems to be Facebook, where the developers stated this past Tuesday that an alpha test will be held between now and Friday, September 17th. Furthermore, anybody may play by just opening a browser and visiting this URL.
We spent a few moments going through the character creation process and a few short instructional steps, and we can confirm that Mad World is fully functioning. Combat works, questing is a thing, and there are a variety of character development mechanisms in place, including stat increases per level, skill unlocks gained by utilizing different weapon types, and a Mastery tree that we didn’t see in our short time with the game. Some of the early alpha flaws are visible in the game, such as UI element strangeness and very sloppy English translations. That said, Mad World is, for all intents and purposes, a playable game for a short period of time.
