According to a complaint filed Tuesday, the 26-year-old running back was accused of abuse, battery, and false imprisonment by his 29-year-old former girlfriend Gracelyn Trimble, a sergeant in the United States Army.
Cook’s lawyer, David Valentini, said in a statement released Tuesday that Trimble attacked his client after breaking into his home and then attempting to extort millions of dollars from him. Trimble’s complaint claims she came to Minnesota in November 2020 to break up with Cook and retrieve her possessions, using a garage door opener she had on hand to gain access to the running back’s home in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.
Trimble sued Cook, alleging that he gave her a concussion, left a scar on her face, and put her through hell. Trimble said in the lawsuit that she used Mace on Cook before walking into his room, seizing his pistol, and contacting a friend for assistance, prompting the running back to assault her with a broomstick.

Police were not called at the time of the confrontation, and no criminal charges were filed.
Cook referred any queries about the lawsuit’s specifics to his lawyer and agent, Zac Hiller. When asked whether he intended to sue Trimble again, Cook responded no.

An indictment by a grand jury, the filing of charges by a prosecutor, or the arraignment in a criminal court are all examples of formal charges.”
Trimble’s attorney, Daniel Cragg, told ESPN that the case was submitted Tuesday night and was accepted for filing by the court administration.
Cook said on Wednesday that he is no longer in communication with the complainant, whom he supposedly saw on and off from January to May 2021, months after the alleged event.
