Monday was their first date.
“She was constantly telling me, ‘Shane, you have to meet him.’ Your opinion is important to me. You’re going to adore him,’ and so on,” Batilaran added.
According to police, Jimenez shot the youngsters as they were watching a movie on Monday night. Prosecutors said the assault was unprovoked and random. After the movie, workers found the teenagers had been shot. Goodrich was pronounced dead on the spot. Barajas has clung to life to this day.
According to police, the Corona Police Department is working with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office to add a new felony of first-degree murder to Jimenez’s case.

With the family’s consent, Father Walter Jenkins, president of Mater Dei High School, where Anthony Barajas graduated, issued the following statement:
“From what we know of Anthony Barajas, ’19, throughout his time at Mater Dei and beyond, his faith in Jesus Christ and love for people around him were at the core of his existence. Only our trust in God and our love for one another can help us cope with the pain of his passing right now. Anthony is in our thoughts and prayers. We send our best wishes to his wonderful family. We hope that the type of aggression that resulted in this needless sorrow would come to a stop.
Anthony was always and proudly a monarch. We, the Monarchs, are proud of Anthony. In this terrible moment, we stand with his family. We seek consolation and strength under the patronage of Mater Dei, the Mother of God, who was herself a woman who had experienced tremendous sorrow.”
Barajas’ organs were given when he was taken off life support, according to a friend.
“Obviously, an 18-year-old lady and a 19-year-old guy do not deserve this, and I know they are our guardian angels right now, and all they want is for us… “I know they want us to be fine,” Batilaran said.
For the Goodrich and Barajas families, GoFundMe accounts have been set up.
